1973: “ELO 2” и “On the Third Day”

Во время записи второго альбома отношения между Роем Вудом и Джеффом Линном ухудшились. Вуд покинул ELO, забрав с собой скрипача и горниста. Они организовали группу Wizzard. В музыкальных кругах ходили разговоры о том, что в одиночку Джефф Линн этот проект не вытянет.

Под единоличным руководством Линна ELO выпустил 11 студийных альбомов. Он написал все оригинальные композиции группы и продюсировал все альбомы.

Второй альбом под названием “ELO 2” вышел в 1973 году. Версия песни Чака Берри “Roll Over Beethoven” вошла в первую десятку британского хит-парада. Ее также играли по радио в США.

В конце 1973 года был выпущен альбом “On the Third Day”, который включал в себя популярную композицию “Showdown”.
